BlackRock has won the contract to manage Throgmorton investment trust subject to shareholder approval, with the board rejecting merger proposals from Gartmore Growth Opportunities. The directors have been reviewing managers since Roger Whiteoak left Axa Framlington earlier this year. Its review included proposals from eight interested parties after contact with 11 fund groups. BlackRock managers Mike Prentis and Richard Plackett will co-manage the trust, with the capacity to short stocks through CFDs.
