The Credit Suisse multi-manager team's latest research shows a wide gap between the best and worst performing funds over one year. In the UK All Companies sector, the best fund returned 97% in the 12 months to the end of March 2004 versus 9% for the worst, a gap of 88%. For Japan, the gap was 109%, with a 136% gain for the best performer and 27% for the worst. Despite this breadth of returns, in the major equity sectors no fund produced negative returns, although the worst performing North America fund came close with a gain of 1%.
