Fund of funds outperform single manager portfolios in both bull and bear markets, according to research by Insight Investments. Insight took the average performance of the Fofs in each of the IMA's three managed sectors, plus those in the Global Growth, UK All Companies and Europe ex UK sectors and compared these to the total peer group averages in each of these sectors. In all cases bar one, the figures, provided by Lipper, showed Fofs beat the full sector average over both one and three years to the end of December 2003. The only exception was in the Europe ex-UK sector over one year. ...
