With the failure of Metronet dominating the news, now may not seem the time to be investing in infrastructure. However, there are many opportunities across the asset class and several investment funds launched, despite the headlines

According to Neil Jones, division director at Macquarie, despite being used as an alternative source of investment for Australian superfunds or pensions since the 1990s, infrastructure is "new to a lot of people. It is a new asset class for everybody, but has been gaining prominence in the UK arena for the past couple of years."
