Like all good scandals the split investment trust story twists and turns creating a complex web of causes and effects. Was it really a scandal? Or was it circumstances conspiring to create an unstable environment for split investment trusts? A scandal suggests deliberate wrongdoing, or at least a certain economy with the truth by those involved. Or did the heady days of the technology boom create an atmosphere in which the perception of risk changed, eg investors wanted risk, risk was good, risk meant the potential for greater returns on an investment?
