Unconstrained Atlantis Asian Special Sits manager restructures the portfolio and re-emphasises the bottom-up approach to stockpicking
James Weir plans to reduce the holdings and focus on growth themes in the region to boost the performance of the Atlantis Asian Special Situations fund since he took over in early June. The manager has been working as assistant fund manager to Tony Jordan, who is also co-chairman of the firm, and was previously an analyst on the Asia ex-Japan team since joining in November 2004. The fund was launched on the back of investor demand for an unconstrained Asia vehicle. Jordan already ran the Recovery fund, but Atlantis felt there was room for a vehicle that would be biased to larger-cap stock...
