What is MiFID for? MiFID stands for the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, and it is the latest European Union financial services regulation to come into force, beginning on 1 November this year. MiFID is intended to replace the existing Investment Services Directive (ISD), and was adopted in 2004, though it has only just reached the implementation stage.
