BlackRock unveils global event-driven retail fund

Fund meets demand for alternatives

BlackRock has unveiled a UCITS-compliant global event-driven fund, giving UK investors access to alternative assets.

The BlackRock Strategic Funds Global Event Driven fund will be managed by Mark McKenna, global head of event-driven equity at BlackRock, who joined the firm last year. The new product will be available across Europe and meets growing investor demand for liquid alternative investments; it will have an ongoing charge figure of 1.45%. The fund will predominantly invest in equity securities across the capital structure, making long, synthetic long, and synthetic short investments in a variety of industries and sectors in developed markets.
