Ashmore shares surge 8% on strong results

Shares in investment manager Ashmore Group have jumped more than 8% after the company released strong full year results this morning.

The specialist emerging markets asset manager announced a 22% increase in assets under management in the year ending 30 June, up to $77.4bn (£49.3bn). It also reported a huge jump in net inflows, up from $1.3bn to $13.4bn, alongside a strong investment performance for its funds. Meanwhile profits also rose from £243m to £257m. The FTSE 250-listed group saw shares surge as a result, up 8.3% to 393p by mid-morning. The group topped the index's risers, with the wider FTSE-250 up just 1.2%.
