The Far East including Japan sector took some £46.3m in Isa money in April 2003, outselling gilts, cash and emerging markets. The sector also outsold guaranteed/protected funds and both US and Japanese smaller companies funds last April as investors looked further afield for equity growth vehicles. This made it the 20th most popular sector for retail investors. Sales lagged those of funds in the Far East excluding Japan sister sector, however. The latter outsold Far East including Japan funds by more than two to one, arguably reflecting continued nervousness about the Japanese market. ...
