Property unit trusts have not proved particularly popular, which explains why there are only three such offerings with three-year track records. The entire sector currently accounts for only about £1bn in assets. By far the largest of these vehicles is the £683m Norwich Property fund, which invests most of its portfolio in physical assets. The £169m New Star Property fund is managed in a similar way, in that the majority of the portfolio is invested in physical UK-based property.
