The manager of Artemis UK Special Situations is currently steered towards blue chips finding better yields there
Derek Stuart has upped the blue chip weighting in his Artemis UK Special Situations fund to 50%, despite typically favouring mid- and small-cap stocks. Due to currently identifying good value in the FTSE 100, his portfolio now has just 25% in mid caps and 25% in small. Historically, the allocation toward small and mid caps has been much higher at around 85% of the portfolio. The current bias toward blue chips is not the result of a top-down view but rather because Stuart is finding good value through lower ratings and higher yields in stocks such as Pearson, Morrison, BP, GlaxoSmithKline...
