LatAm Freestyle doubles in size over last two months

Freestyle approach of HSBC fund is yielding strong results in Latin America, despite inherently higher risk of many countries in the region

HSBC's Latin American Freestyle fund has seen a recent boom in interest, doubling in size over the last two months. At the end of April, the fund had $49.7m (£24.5m) under management, increasing to $101m (£49.9m) at the end of last week. The fund is just over a year old after launching on 6 July 2006. Manager Luiz Ribeiro joined HSBC in 2005 before which he worked in corporate finance at the World Bank and ran Latin American equities at ABN Amro for seven years.
