Woodford, Cholwill, Fosh and Cross top list of 'strongest' equity fund managers

Neil Woodford, RLAM's Martin Cholwill and Liontrust duo Anthony Cross and Julian Fosh have emerged as the equity fund managers with the "strongest track records" over the past five years, according to research from Tilney Bestinvest.

The wealth manager looked at 497 track records of fund manager across a range of equity sectors where a minimum of five years of data was available, and identified the best managers in terms of adding value and consistency. Tilney Bestinvest scored the managers on a number of factors, including average monthly excess performance over their market benchmark both over their full career history in a sector and also over the past five years (see table, below).
