Hermes appoints former Odey chief Stewart as chairman

Former chairman Spencer leaves for Pru role

Hermes Investment Management has appointed David Stewart as its new chairman with effect from 1 April 2016.

The former chief executive of Odey Asset Management Stewart joined Hermes as a non-executive director in April last year.  He also serves as chairman of IMM Associates, a non-executive director of the Caledonia Investment trust, and sits on the investment committee of MacMillan Cancer Care. Stewart assumes the new position from Paul Spencer who has been chairman of the board at Hermes since 2011, and who has been appointed independent non-executive chairman of the Prudential Assurance Company, the UK subsidiary of Prudential, effective 1 January 2016.
