Barings poaches China equities head as Deng exits

Asia specialist Agnes Deng has left Baring Asset Management, handing her $2.3bn Hong Kong China fund to Laura Luo who joins the group from Schroders.

Luo takes on the Hong Kong based role of head of Hong Kong China equities on 12 September, reporting to chief investment officer for Asia, Wilfrid Sit. She will be responsible for managing the Hong Kong China equities team as well as being lead manager on the Baring Hong Kong China fund and segregated portfolios. Winston Ke, who has contributed to the portfolio management of the China A-share product since its inception, will become lead manager on the Baring China A-Share fund and all China A-Share segregated portfolios, effective immediately.
