George Orwell once wrote that today's newspapers are tomorrow's fish and chip paper, and if he had lived in the digital age he might have included a lot of what is written on the web too.

Of course, the equivalent of 'electronic fish and chip paper' is the bin on your desktop and I am guessing that is where a lot of the market commentary many of you receive ends up. It fascinates me that in a relatively short period of time we have gone from an industry where virtually nothing was written by fund managers or wealth managers to an absolute tsunami of commentary. However, little of it stands up to any kind of scrutiny if you are looking for good writing, and it intrigues me that the world of investment has so little good quality commentary.
