Contrarian: The Europe investment chimera

Investing in Europe is the great investment uncertainty of modern times, a chimera that could be either the single greatest opportunity for investors or the biggest disaster lurking in the shadows.

Judging by the huge marketing push from leading asset managers, I am guessing most advisers are currently being told it is the former rather than the latter.  My own view is if you are willing to be patient, Europe probably does represent a great bet, but you might have to explain to your clients why local markets are going to be volatile in the short to medium term. Part of the problem is investors’ schizophrenic attitude towards the continent.
