FE: North America sector dominates 50 best-performing funds of 2018 in 'huge turnaround'

Nearly half of the top 50 best-performing funds of 2018 are invested in North American equities, according to data from FE Analytics, compared to none at the end of 2017.

Looking over the past three quarters of 2018, some 46% of the top 50 best-performing funds came from the IA North America sector.  When looking at the top 100 funds, 45% came from that sector.  Top funds included the £1.9bn Baillie Gifford American fund, $2.7bn Morgan Stanley US Growth and £582m AXA Framlington American Growth funds.   Baillie Gifford American was the top-performing fund overall, returning 41% over the first three quarters of 2018 while the Morgan Stanley fund returned 32% and AXA Framlington returned 31%.
