Male fund managers outnumber females by nine to one in US

Women and men deliver equally competitive fund performance, but the ratio of males to females is far higher than in other professions, with men taking up to 90% of newly-created roles, research by Morningstar shows.

In the third instalment of its fund managers by gender research, Morningstar investigated why male fund managers outnumber females by a ratio of nine to one in the US, as discovered in previous research by the firm. It found that while men have procured 85% to 90% of new fund management roles, women have joined the industry at the same rate at those leaving, meaning their representation has fallen as the industry has grown.
