Revealed: The investment trust winners and laggards in April

Miners lead the way

The recent recovery in the mining sector extended into April, with commodity trusts among the best performers for the month, according to QuotedData's latest report.

Polo Resources and BlackRock World Mining were among the best performing funds, returning 28.4% and 14.6% respectively in share price terms, with the latter also reporting an NAV rise of 16.2%. Golden Prospect Precious Metals and BlackRock Commodities Income were also up 25.6% and 12.3% in NAV terms, followed by City Natural Resources (11.6%) and Baker Steel Resources (7.5%). Meanwhile, other winners include renewable energy fund Leaf Clean Energy and natural resource fund Geiger Counter, which were up between 10% and 11% in April in share price terms.
