PIMCO CEO Mohamed El-Erian has dismissed reports tipping him to become the next prime minister of Egypt.
Newly elected president Mohamed Morsi is said to be contemplating El-Erian as one of the leading candidates for the post according to a source quoted in the report in the Arab-language Al-Watan newspaper. The newspaper cited Ahmed Abu Baraka, of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Muslim Brotherhood's political wing, as saying that El-Erian was being "studied" as an option and described him as a strong contender for the post.
