As volatility in global markets continues, GAM's Charles Hepworth tells Anna Fedorova how he is protecting portfolios from political uncertainty and potential rate rises, and reveals his fund picks in the popular absolute return space.

Charles Hepworth, investment director in charge of the DFM proposition at GAM, is positive on equity long/short funds, as he expects them to generate more alpha this year, but as a number of funds in the markets have recently soft-closed, the choice has become more limited. He has also been expanding his absolute return investments into the bond space, as fixed income continued to be a difficult asset class in which to invest.
