Will Landers, senior portfolio manager of the BlackRock Latin American investment trust, admits the LatAm region has issues - particularly with three key elections in the pipeline. However, it is also home to some of the cheapest investment opportunities in the market.

Latin American funds have experienced successive outflows for the past several months, and investor appetite for the region has not been this low since the credit crisis of 2008. The election cycle, which started with Chile in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will be followed by Brazil’s presidential elections this October and Argentina in 2015, have led many to question the wisdom of investing in Latin America.
