Best-performing sectors 2019: Tech on top as US and UK funds flood the top 10

IA Technology and Telecommunications takes top spot

Technology and Telecommunications was the best-performing Investment Association (IA) sector across 2019, with US small cap taking second place and the UK filling four of the top ten spots.

A large correction in the stockmarket at the end of 2018, Federal Reserve interest rate policy and general positive sentiment are among the reasons given by Juliet Schooling Latter, research director at Chelsea Financial Services, for the strong performance of the US across 2019. The IA North American Smaller Companies sector finished the year second with a return of 25.9%, while IA North America was not far behind at 24.6%, just shy of the podium in fourth.
