Ten years since Bernanke's warning on sub-prime debt

Ten years after former Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke warned against sub-prime lending failures, which ultimately kicked off the global financial crisis, more than half of UK investors still do not trust the financial services industry, according to new research.

It is hardly surprising that after a decade of mis-selling scandals, the exploits of 'London whale' traders and fat cat payouts, around 55% of active UK investors say they trust the sector less than they did before the crisis, according to a survey by fixed rate bond provider Minerva Lending.  UK investors still distrust banks a decade after financial crisis This is despite a raft of Europe-wide regulations aimed at shoring up the financial system and ensuring stronger levels of protection for consumers.
