Mark Pacitti, director of independent research company Woozle Research, takes a closer look at the biggest problems facing the hedge funds industry.

The hedge fund industry's poor relative performance versus major world index trackers and investor complaints about high fees culminated in more than $50bn being withdrawn from hedge funds in the first nine months of 2016.This is the most since 2008, according to data compiled by Hedge Fund Research (HFR). It could well be the start of a reversal of fortunes for many funds in the industry.
