Hipgnosis Songs fund acquires three 'genius-level' music catalogues

The Hipgnosis Songs fund has acquired three new catalogues of songs from writers Johntá Austin, Sean Garrett and Rico Love.

The catalogues, purchased by the trust's adviser The Family (Music), include the hit singles Yeah! by Usher, Check on It by Beyoncé, We Belong Together by Mariah Carey and Be Without You by Mary J. Blige. Eventually listed in 2018 after a series of setbacks, the investment company purchases songs and their associated copyrights, enabling investors to profit from music royalties and other income from those songs.
