M&G GEM manager Vaight to depart after 22 years

Matthew Vaight, manager of the £1.8bn M&G Global Emerging Markets fund, is leaving the firm at the end of 2018 after 22 years.

Vaight joined M&G in 1996 as a graduate trainee on the firm's equities desk and became manager of the £427m M&G Asian fund in 2008, subsequently launching the £1.8bn Global Emerging Markets fund in 2009. He will leave the firm at the end of the year to "pursue interests outside of the asset management industry". The GEM fund will be taken over by Michael Bourke while Alastair Bruce will assume control of the Asian fund, both supported by the wider emerging markets team.  Bruce will also be co-deputy manager on the GEM fund with Alice de Charmoy.  Graham Mason, chief investment o...
