BlackRock is considering how it can offer investment funds that exclude gun stocks following the fatal school shooting in Florida last month, despite investing in three major gun firms.
BlackRock has exposure to gun firms Sturm Ruger, Vista Outdoor and American Outdoor Products through its index equity products. However, it is now considering a new set of index-based portfolios that would exclude firearms manufacturers and retailers. This would work in the same way as those funds that exclude tobacco or gambling. MSCI: How does ESG impact the performance of companies?
