Wells Fargo Asset Management has hired Peter Weidner and Mark Brandreth from the Schroders multi-asset team, reuniting them with their former head of multi-asset investments Nico Marais.
Weidner will join as head of factor solutions and Brandreth will be a senior portfolio manager in the multi-asset solutions team.
They join head of multi-asset solutions Nico Marais, who left Schroders in June 2016. He had worked as head of multi-asset investments and portfolio solutions teams.
Based in London, Weidner and Brandreth will report to global head of portfolio solutions Dan Morris.
Their new roles will focus on portfolio construction and the use of risk and alternative risk premia for clients seeking retirement income and wealth preservation.
At Schroders, Weidner was head of the advanced beta group while Brandreth was head of portfolio construction and trading systems.
Brandreth joined Schroders from BlackRock in August 2010, while Weidner had worked at the firm since 2013, having joined from Auriel Capital.
Marais said: "The addition of Peter and Mark to our team further enhances our ability to provide thought leadership and deliver high-quality solutions to our clients, with the goal of establishing the team as an innovator in the industry."
