Fulcrum AM hires partner to head up new alternatives division

Independent fund house Fulcrum Asset Management has appointed Matthew Roberts from Willis Towers Watson to lead the firm's newly-created alternatives group and as a joint partner of the business.

The new division has been launched in response to increasing demand from clients for help with their real asset and credit allocations, which is where it will focus. Fulcrum already runs a range of alternative beta strategies. Roberts (pictured) joins from Willis Towers Watson, where he was a portfolio manager for the Towers Watson Partners fund and related strategies amounting to $10bn. Prior to this, he ran its multi-asset and multi-strategy hedge fund research teams.
