BlackRock adopts AI for China A-shares fund launch

AI has 'extraordinary relevance' in Chinese market

BlackRock has unveiled the China A-Share Opportunities fund as part of its BlackRock Global Funds range, which will use big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence in its investment process.

The fund is a liquid, long only, systematic active equity (SAE) UCITS strategy and targets consistent alpha on an annual basis. It uses a combination of both traditional quantitative signals and innovative big data, as well as machine learning insights, which are used to identify around 300 companies to invest in. Companies in the Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong Exchange Stock Connect programme will be targeted, offering a universe of around 1,300 names.
