Liontrust Asset Management has appointed Sophia Tickell, co-founder of the not-for-profit thinktank Meteos, as an independent non-executive director of its board, effective from 1 October.
Tickell is currently a member of the group's advisory committee for its sustainable future funds but will also act as a director for its board next month, subject to regulatory approval.
She is a founding partner of Meteos, a thinktank that combines analysis with senior level dialogues between industry, investors and societal stakeholders.
Tickell has over 15 years' experience working with asset managers and corporate executives to improve their appreciation of societal expectations and environmental constraints, and has served on a number of commercial, financial, academic and charitable boards and advisory committees.
Adrian Collins, chairman of Liontrust, said: "We welcome Sophia Tickell to Liontrust's board of directors and we know she will be a great addition.
"Sophia brings extensive and valuable experience, and will also add vast knowledge and insight to the board through her work and involvement with ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) as it concerns asset management and sustainable investment.
"This is a key area of focus and expansion for Liontrust following the completion of our acquisition of Alliance Trust Investments in April 2017 and given our belief in the growing importance of sustainability for consumers and investors.
"I and the rest of the board are looking forward to working with Sophia and to her contribution to the further growth of Liontrust over the coming years."
