Julius Baer International has strengthened its London-based team with three appointments as it reinforces its "commitment" to the UK market.

Loris Vallone is joining as head of strategic solutions, Luke Downes as portfolio management team leader and Ella Riesco (pictured) as head of marketing and communications UK.

Vallone was most recently head of Italy's domestic market for Julius Baer and now has joined the team in London to focus on the development and enhancement of Julius Baer International's product and service offering. Previously, he had been with Credit Suisse until 2011.

Downes joins from Sanlam Private Wealth, where he was head of global clients. He will lead a team of portfolio managers and focus on the continued expansion of the portfolio management service in London.

He will report to Edward Raymond, head of portfolio management UK, and will help him co-ordinate and develop the discretionary portfolio management offering.

Riesco joins as head of marketing and communications UK from Ruffer. She previously spent six years as head of marketing and communications for Alliance Trust Investments.

Riesco will support the extension of the brand footprint outside London to high-net-worth and ulta-high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs and UHNWIs) across the UK.

David Durlacher, CEO of Julius Baer International, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ella, Loris and Luke. They bring a wealth of leadership experience that will be important for our growth. These appointments are a further demonstration of Julius Baer's ambitions in the UK and its commitment to the market."
