Companies across all sectors in the UK must continue to have "barrier-free" access to European markets following Brexit, urged the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

The business lobby group said the UK's Brexit deal must meet the needs of all sectors in order to be successful outside the EU with only "minimal" barriers in place. It urged the government to adopt a "whole economy" approach and also called for a migration system which allows firms to obtain the skills and labour they need.  The CBI said after having "thousands of conversations" with firms across 18 sectors throughout the country, companies identified a range of priorities including issues of trade, migration and regulation.
