Downing's MacKenzie: The micro caps that have outperformed post-Brexit

Downing's Judith MacKenzie has highlighted a number of micro-cap businesses that have thrived since the Brexit vote against a difficult backdrop for smaller companies, arguing many can hold their own internationally despite their size.

The manager of the £23m MI Downing UK Micro-Cap Growth fund said although many small- and mid-cap funds suffered in the aftermath of the EU referendum, with the FTSE 250 falling as much as 14% in the week after the vote, many micro caps continue to do well and benefitted from sterling falls. "People have been shouting about the negatives of Brexit but some of our niche UK companies that are exporters have been benefitting from the currency effects.
