PIMCO: Gross was warned of $200m bonus loss

PIMCO has retaliated against former manager Bill Gross' lawsuit, saying he knew he would lose his $200m bonus if he left the firm before the end of Q3 2014.

Gross (pictured), co-founder and former fixed income manager at PIMCO, left the firm in September 2014 to join Janus Capital and has since filed a lawsuit against PIMCO alleging he was wrongfully dismissed. PIMCO has described these claims as 'legally groundless' and tried unsuccessfully to get the case thrown out of court. In the most recent court filing in Santa Ana, California, PIMCO has said Gross had no employment agreement and had been warned he would forfeit his profit sharing payments if he left before the end of the third quarter of 2014, Bloomberg reports.
