Cazenove's top performing UK Equity Income fund manager Matt Hudson has identified the potential winners among the UK's banking sector following a stellar year for all the big banks.

In 2012, the UK's embattled banking sector saw share prices recover dramatically in the second half, as investors piled into the cyclical stocks en masse. As a result, four of the UK's five major banks all rocketed last year, as investors bought into the recovery story. Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland enjoyed the biggest uplift, with shares surging well over 50%. Barclays also climbed sharply, particularly from its summer low of 150.6p, and is currently double that price at 301.2p.
