Stewart Ivory put a 1% discount on initial charges to its Japan unit trust. The offer was to last until 31 December, seeing the front-end fee reduced to 4%. Manager Anja Balfour was looking to increase the portfolio's exposure to the services sector to capitalise on the swing away from production and manufacturing toward a consumer-led economy. She said companies had to adapt to increasing consumer power and choice.
