Scottish port company Clydeport recorded pre- tax profits up 15% and turnover up 13% despite problems at Hunterston, its key coal terminal. The outlook for Hunterston is still unclear but Clydeport figures were boosted by the property division, which contributed 37% of operating profits. Earnings from property business more than doubled this year to £5.4m from £2.7m in 1999, and with planning permission for a Glasgow site coming in a few months, this side could contribute 50% of group earnings in a year's time.
