Following a landmark surge in the FTSE 100 last week the index opened at 4,279, having closed at 4,188 on Friday. Last week the index rose 13.4% - its largest ever weekly surge. News that New Star has halted trading as it enters talks with banks saw its value fall from 14p to12.25p by 8.55 this morning. Last week, New Star froze dealings in its International Property fund due to increased redemptions. RBS shares were not significantly impacted by news that the bank has guaranteed not to repossess the properties of customers lagging on payments for at least six months with share pric...
