Where are the emerging market 'sweet spots'?

Emerging market equities have made a swan-like turnaround this year after five years in the doldrums, writes Will Ballard, head of emerging market and Asia Pacific equities at Aviva Investors.

Sentiment for the asset class and expectations for corporate earnings have increased significantly in 2016. The UK's vote to leave the European Union in June and the upcoming US election have been catalysts to challenge the wider perception that political risk is confined to the emerging markets. Signs that commodity prices may be recovering, Chinese growth stabilising and indications that global monetary policy may remain persistently loose could underpin this improvement in sentiment.
