There has been a surge in environmental policy initiatives announced by policymakers in recent years, but where are the best opportunities around the globe? Annabelle Williams reports.

A snapshot of recent environmental policy announcements this year include the European Union’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% before 2030, and the US government’s proposal to cut carbon pollution from the power sector by 30%. In the East, Chinese authorities are set to spend $330bn on tackling water pollution over the next decade. Many of these announcements were made in the run-up to the United Nations’ climate summit which was held in New York in September.
