Industry commentators have warned far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro's victory in the Brazil elections is not as positive as the market is making out.

The controversial politician, who has been dubbed the "Trump of the Tropics" by media outlets, won 55.2% of the vote in the second round last Sunday versus 44.8% for left-wing candidate Fernando Haddad. Throughout his election campaign Bolsonaro has been pro-reform, with specific plans on privatisation and pension reform, which has been described as a "game-changer" for the country's long-term sustainability by Delphine Arrighi, manager of the Merian Emerging Market Debt fund.
