Redwood: Eurozone QE can aid UK recovery

UK investors may be unsure about the impending general election, but events elsewhere could provide a boost to the economy in the coming months, explains John Redwood, chairman of the investment committee at Charles Stanley Pan Asset.

The UK has shown itself capable of generating a lot of extra jobs at a time of employment drought in many parts of Europe. The country has overcome its inflationary tendencies, at least for the time being, with a bit of help from global commodity prices. The country can enjoy strong jobs growth, decent output growth, low price rises, and even some increases in wages and real incomes. The UK has also managed to avoid too much collateral damage from the long and deep recessions in parts of the euro area, and has dealt with the recent devaluation of the euro well.
