The IA has announced it is going to take a more pragmatic and consultative approach to the disclosure of fund costs by establishing an independent panel.

This issue, which largely did for the career of previous IA boss Daniel Godfrey, will now fall under the stewardship of Mark Fawcett, who has done a more than decent job leading NEST. I am hopeful the independent panel may be able to come up with a standardised way for managers to display charges. IA appoints independent advisory board to develop fund cost framework TERs and OCFs are well-meaning ideas, but it is largely too easy to ‘game' the system with these measure and create more confusion.
