Asset management is regularly portrayed as an industry hugely resistant to change, and it is true some industry voices are openly critical of the regulator's probes into each part of the investment value chain.

But given that senior executives across the country lie awake at night, attempting to anticipate the FCA’s next broadside and pondering the ever-escalating cost of complying with the rules, perhaps an attitude of resistance is somewhat understandable.
