The employment tribunal that had the whole of the fund management industry fascinated ended with a whimper last week.
Fund manager Patrick Evershed and his former employer New Star agreed to a confidential settlement, which resolves the employment tribunal proceedings without admission of liability. Evershed had been seeking more than £1m in compensation from his former employer, claiming he was bullied by the firm’s founder John Duffield. This speedy resolution at least stopped the mud-raking, with further witnesses for New Star set to appear at the end of last week.
