Investec AM profits jump 17% on strong half-year inflows

Inflows of £1.1bn over six months

Investec Asset Management has seen operating profits increase by nearly 17% during the six months to the end of September, thanks to more than £1bn in net inflows.

In the half-year results to the 30 September for the wider Investec group, the firm said operating profit for its asset management division increased by 16.6%, from £70.6m during the same period in 2015 to £82.3m. This was helped by net inflows of £1.1bn, particularly following the recovery in equities, while funds under management rose from £75.7bn at the end of March to £89.8bn. The firm's popular equity funds include the UK Alpha fund, run by Simon Brazier (pictured), as well as the UK Smaller Companies, Global Quality Equity Income and Emerging Markets Equity funds.
